The key to any successful Affiliate Program is support and name recognition, or branding. People go with names they can trust. So first off look for Affiliate Programs that are household names and have proven track records, like Amazon and Google, both the originators of APM and still great programs to get involved in.

Other things you should look for besides a major web presence in an Affiliate Marketing Program include:

• What product are they selling? – Take a look at what some of the most popular searches for products on the Internet and you will find that they are for Weight Loss Products, Supplements, Adult Products and Male Enhancement. Affiliate Programs in these areas are a good bet

• What is the commission structure? – not all programs pay the same rates in commissions, look for the ones with the highest

• Do they offer Multi-Tier Opportunities – Many of the ways that successful affiliates make huge money is by signing up other affiliates “downstream” then you make money as your affiliates make money

• What Kind of Support do they Offer – A successful Affiliate Program works only if people go to your site – what support does the Merchant give you. The best programs will have many support systems and marketing tools in place to drive traffic to your site, such as ads, articles and other content

• Does the Program offer training, forums and other discussion groups to help you succeed

Before signing on for any Affiliate Marketing Program speak to people that have actually used that program, or at least check out some forum streams on them. Get some real feedback on how much work will be involved, and how much money you will really be making.

People are making money off of Affiliate Marketing Programs, but any APM that promises tens of thousands of dollars a month by working only 1 or 2 hours a day should probably be avoided. AMP’s work, but they are a business and need to be treated like one. But if yo find a good program, follow it and work at it, you could be well on your way to financial independence.
